Stakeholder Forums

The Ministerial Meeting will be preceded by a day of non-governmental Stakeholder Forums, to take place on 16 June 2008. These Forums will enable different constituencies, including business, the Internet technical community, civil society and organised labour, to present their perspectives of key policy issues for the future development of the Internet economy. Representatives from non-governmental stakeholder groups will be invited to participate in the Ministerial Meeting, so as to convey messages from the Stakeholder Forums to Ministers and policy makers. More information on non-governmental stakeholder participation in the Ministerial is available online at www.oecd.org/futureinternet.

"MAKING THE [FUTURE OF THE] INTERNET WORK FOR CITIZENS, CONSUMERS AND WORKERS"

This forum will address the issues of utmost importance to the people for the benefit of whom the Internet economy exists. Prominent advocates from the academic, consumer, development, digital rights, labour, and privacy communities will seek to engage government delegates on topics of relevance to the ministerial, as well as issues of fundamental concern to their most important constituency.

The forum consists of interactive policy roundtables, covering the future of the internet from 5 perspectives: the Human and Political Dimension; Sustainable Development and IT Skills; Fuelling Creativity and Access to Knowledge; Ensuring Consumer Confidence; and Benefitting from Convergence. All delegates to the ministerial are more than warmly welcome."
